About BAYUP

Bay Area Urban Project, sponsored by InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, has been bringing college students to the cities of the Bay Area to taste and see the Lord’s redemptive work in our cities, to learn about God’s heart for issues of justice, and to participate in God’s purposes among the urban poor.

For six weeks, we will be living and serving in the heart of Oakland. We will be partnering with CityTeam, a non-profit organization focusing on crisis care, education and job trainings for the homeless and men in drug and alcohol recovery. We will also work with OBUGS (Oakland Based Urban Gardens), an organization that seeks to educate inner-city kids about nutrition, health, and sciences through garden-based programs, and ultimately help disadvantaged families build a healthier community.
